Does a new Nintendo Switch 2 come sealed? How to tell a new console from a resold one

Nintendo does not put a seal on Switch 2 boxes, so a closed box alone does not prove a console is new. Check the accessories are still packed and the console starts at first-time setup. Re:Safeplay adds its own seal sticker to every box it sells.
Plenty of buyers look for a factory seal and feel reassured when a box is closed. With the Switch 2 that tells you very little: Nintendo does not seal the box, so a console can be opened, used and put back without any sign on the outside.
Signs a Switch 2 is actually new
- The Joy-Con 2, cables and adapter are still in their packaging
- Plastic protective film is still on the console and dock
- On first power-on it starts at the initial setup screen — though a reset used console does too, so this alone is not proof
- No scuffs on the dock rails, where a console that has been docked and undocked wears first
